Kenneth Joseph "Red" Mellecker, 71, of Coralville died suddenly Friday, December 21, 2007 in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.Services were Thursday, December 27 with the Reverend Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Family graveside services were in St. Stanislaus Cemetery near Hills.Born May 21, 1936 near Hills, he was the son of Francis "Tade" and Josephine (Doyle) Mellecker. He graduated from Iowa City High School in 1954 where he lettered in many sports and played on the 1953 state championship football team.He was united in marriage to Janet Shank May 19, 1956 in Iowa City. Mr. Mellecker lived his entire life in the Iowa City area, working in the printing industry in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids for more than 50 years. Following retirement, he worked as a shuttle driver for Toyota of Iowa City.He was an avid Hawkeye and Cardinals fan, was actively involved with the City High Alumni Association, enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles and working in his woodshop, building furniture for family and friends.Survivors include his wife, Janet Mellecker of Coralville; three daughters, Piper and husband Jeff Anderson of Greensboro, North Carolina, Shelli and husband Kirby Doolin of Cincinnati, Ohio and Carrie and husband John Hogarty of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Seth and wife Katie Anderson, Drew Anderson, Eric and wife Lauren Doolin, Erin Doolin and Alyssa Doolin and fiancé Eric Fomon; a brother, Bernard "Bernie" and wife Phyllis Mellecker of Riverside; and two sisters, Dolores Latta of Wilton and Eileen Yotty of Kalona.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald "Stub" Mellecker

Kenneth J. ?Red? Mellecker, 71 of 1946 Farrell Drive, Coralville, died unexpectedly Friday, December 21, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a reception will immediately follow the services. Family graveside services will be held at St. Stanislaus Cemetery near Hills. Visitation will be from 4 to 6pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
