Margaret E. Lang, 1907-2006, Boonville
Margaret E. Lang, 98, of Boonville, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006.
She was born June 30, 1907, in Cooper County, a daughter of Frank and Anna Elizabeth Stanfield Aggeler. On Oct. 2, 1929, in a double wedding ceremony, which she shared with her sister Gertrude, she was married William Balthasar Lang, who died earlier.
Mrs. Lang was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking. She especially liked making pies and cakes.
She canned jellies of all kinds and could make the best ice cream from fresh fallen snow. She also enjoyed making quilts and had continued to do so until very recently. She also loved spending time in the garden with her flowers and vegetables.
Outside of her home, she was a cook for St. Martin's Grade School. She later worked at Bell Orchard and then the shoe factory.
Her last employer, which was her favorite, was Cooper County Hospital, where she was able to make use of her talent in the dessert department.
She was a member of St. Martin's Church, St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's Altar Society, Pilot Grove Senior Center and the Daughters of Isabella.
She was a resident of Katy Manor Nursing Home in Pilot Grove.
Surviving are seven children, Bill Lang, and his wife, Theresa, and Michael Lang, and his wife, Kathy, all of Boonville, Isabel Stoecklein, and her husband, Roy, of Blue Springs, Kenny Lang, and his wife, Audrey, of O'Fallon, Betty Zeller, and her husband, Robert, of Pilot Grove, Jeanette Koechner, and her husband, William Thomas, of St. Charles, Donald Lang, and his wife, Janice, of Columbia; a sister, Loretta Schuster, of Pilot Grove; 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by two brothers, Hubert "Buddy" Aggeler and the Rev. Philip Aggeler; and a sister, Gertrude Schuster.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church, with the Rev. Tom Seifner and the Rev. Vince Aggeler officiating. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove. A prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Church in Pilot Grove, with visitation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Martin's Cemetery, St. Joseph's Church or Katy Manor Activity Fund.
