- [S927] Obituary.
John Philip Forni, age 66 of Granville Ohio (formerly Woodsfield Ohio) passed away Thursday evening March 9 with his sons by his side at Licking Memorial Hospital after a 4 year battle with cancer. He was born May 25, 1950 in Bellaire Ohio, a son of the late Earl and Ila (Fankhauser) Forni.
John was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Melissa.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 46 years Marilyn (Stegner) Forni. Sons Noah (Michelle) Forni of Granville Ohio and Adam (Becky) Forni of Loveland Ohio. And grandchildren Aidan, Ella, and Jack Forni.
He was a graduate of Wilmington College and enjoyed a diversity of jobs during his career being a jack of all trades and master of many. He hit his vocational stride with his entrepreneurial endeavors and absolutely loved problem solving, building things, and his joy in the last few years of working on the farm.
During his life he was involved in countless civic, church, community, and volunteer activities. He was always willing to donate his time to good causes. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Granville and formerly a long time member of St Paul's UCC Woodsfield. As good of a civic minded man that he was, he was even a better family man.
The passion of his life was his family. He was first a devoted husband, then an amazing father, and most especially the proudest grandfather ever. There wasn't a moment of any day where his family wasn't his primary focus and source of pride. He was the standard by which all others should be measured. The example he set for his family will sustain them for years to come. His adoring sons only pray they can become half of the father that he was.
A memorial service celebrating his amazing life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Granville at 1 pm on Saturday March 18 with friends and family welcome. There will be no internment as his ashes will be scattered in the places he loved.
