She was born in Ashland on July 4, 1936, to Ray B. and Gertrude M. (Wolfe) Miller. She had resided in Ashland for most of her life except when she lived in Pennsylvania for three years. She was a former employee of the Eagle Rubber Co., then worked as a floor lady at Myers Laundry and retired from U-Brand Corp., where she had worked for more than 20 years in the foundry department. She had attended Park Street Brethren Church. She was a former member of Polk Fire Department Auxiliary and was a member of U-Brand Allied Molders Union. On Oct. 14, 1955, she was married to Clyde J. "Shorty" Matz, who preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1993. In December of 1998, she was married to Leonard E. Ball, who preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2001. She is survived by two sons, Rocky L. (Deborah) Matz of Polk and Ronald L. (Doris) Matz of Ashland; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her stepmother, who raised her since she was three years old, Florence Irene Miller of Ashland; and two sisters, Patricia Ann (Charles) Hunt of Savannah, and Mary Louise Miller of Ashland. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ray William (Billy) Matz on Oct. 30, 1994; one sister, Ethel Mae Peterson; and two brothers, William Warden Miller and Ray Benton Miller Jr. Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home in Ashland with the Rev. Arden Gilmer officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home.
