Harry Jacob Matz was born December 3, 1906, and married Clara Hoff August 30, 1930, by Rev. Edward Brueske. Harry and Clara made their home in Lewisville, Ohio. Harry worked for the state and was the mayor of Lewisville. They sold their home and had a public sale of their personal goods on Saturday, June 23, 1979. Paul Weddle and Kenneth Bigley were the auctioneers. Clara died June 4, 1992, and Harry died, age 86, on May 28, 1993. Services were held in the Monbarren Funeral Home, Ic., at Dalton, Ohio at 2:00 p.m. Sunday , May 30, 1993. Officiating was Rev. Tim Hull and burial was in the Dalton Cemetery. Harry J. Matz, 86, of West Schultz Street, Dalton, formerly of Lewisville, died May 28, 1993. He was the son of the late Charles and Mary Neibch Matz. He worked as an operating engineer. He was a founding member of the Lewisville Volunteer Fire Department from 1956--1991. He was Mayor of Lewisville for 43 years and a member of Stafford Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by a son, Wilfred "Whitey" Matz of Dalton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Hoff Matz, in 1992; one brother, Bill Matz.
Funeral services held June 3 at 2 p.m. at Monbarren Funeral Home in Dalton with Reverend Tim Hull officiating. Burial follows in Dalton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Dalton United Methodist Church or Lewisville Volunteer Fire Department.
