Burkhart, Sister Adelaide Burkhart
Monroe County Beacon, Woodsfield, Ohio, dated, February 16, 2006
Sister Adelaide Burkhart, 103, of the Sisters of St. Francis Home, one week short of her 104th birthday. She was born Feb. 14, 1902, in Kuhn, Ohio, to the late Rosella Haren Burkhart and Jacob Burkhart.
She served in various food service positions in Carey, Fort Jennings, Marywood, Toledo and St. Francis Convent. At the time of her death, she was a minister of prayer for the congregation. In her later years, Sister Adelaide longed and prayed that she could die and be with Christ, and she begged anyone who would listen to her to pray for that too, but many were reluctant because she was their love and their light.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Agnes Burkhart, of Canton; nephew, Monsignor Robert I. Noon, of Lancaster; niece, Rose (Willard) Parry, of Zanesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Isadore, Roman, Leo and Sylvester; sister, Theresa Noon.
Friends were received Feb. 12 with a Christian Wake Service at St. Francis Convent Chapel, Tiffin, where the Funeral Mass was held Feb. 12. Burial was in St. Francis Convent Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Convent or St. Francis Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Traunero Funeral Home, Tiffin. To send condolences to the family, go to www.traunerofuneralhome.com <http://www.traunerofuneralhome.com/>
