Sybil "Chic" Champagne, 82, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 20, 2010.
She was born in Breaux Bridge and was a resident of Westlake for many years. She was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church. She retired as a secretary from Calcasieu Parish School Board. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a wonderful mother-in-law.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James P. Champagne of Westlake; sisters, Lula Mae Thomassee of Breaux Bridge and Lena Veillon of Abbeville; sons, Paul Champagne and wife, Susan of Moss Bluff, Charlie Champagne and wife, Cindy of Moss Bluff; daughter, Loretta (Champagne) Daigle and husband, Peter of Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Larry Abshire, Scott Abshire and wife, Tammy, Aaron Champagne and wife, Kelly, Jacob Champagne and wife, Donna, Brandon Champagne; great grandchildren, Morgan, Kayla, Caleb, and Zachary Abshire, Shannen Godeaux, Abrianna, Sierra, Makayla and Guy Champagne.
Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Rev. Michael Barras will officiate. Burial will be in Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hixson Funeral Home in Westlake and Thursday 8 a.m. til time of service. Rosary will be prayed Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
