Peter Bahlinger died on September 12, 2016 at Williamsburg Senior Living Community. A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, he was born on February 15, 1926 and went on to become Chairman of the Board and Past President of Kornmeyer's Furniture Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, having served with the 1st Cavalry in the Pacific Theater. Visitation will be Friday, September 16, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., Baton Rouge, LA from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a memorial mass to follow visitation. Peter B is survived by his seven children and their spouses: Bonnie B. Hyfield; Peter, Jr. and his late wife, Lisa, of Livingston, LA; Rick and his wife, Andi, of Tulsa, OK; Janet Chaney and her husband, Thad, of Livingston, LA; Margaret "Peggy" Whatley and her husband, David; Gerald and his wife, Alice, of Mandeville, LA; Christine Currier and her husband, David; and a friend of the family, Beverly M. Wilson. He is survived by his siblings: Frederick J. Bahlinger, Jr., Frances B. Fremin, Lawrence J. Bahlinger, all of Baton Rouge; and Charlotte B. Walters of California. He is survived by 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Peter is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Claire Bonnet Bahlinger; his parents Frederick Jacob Bahlinger, Sr. and Christina Fabacher Bahlinger; his step-mother Rose Fridge Bahlinger; brothers Eugene Thomas Bahlinger and David Kenneth Bahlinger, and sister Martha Bahlinger Haase. Peter was an alumnus of Catholic High School of Baton Rouge and Phi Kappa Theta social fraternity at LSU which he attended before joining the Army during World War II. He was a founding member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church; a member of the Knights of Columbus no. 969; 4th degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Ott Assembly; Past President of Lakeshore Lions Club (Life Member); Louisiana Camelia Society member; a former member of Marketing Managers Association; and SCORE. He was Past President of St. Aloysius Home and School Association and a past board member of Ollie Steele Burden Manor.
