Robert N. Weisend, 95, of Westwood Place, Woodsfield, Ohio (formerly of Lewisville, Ohio) passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Red Carpet Health Care Center, Cambridge, Ohio.
He was born near Lewisville, Ohio on September 27, 1918 a son of the late Nicholas and Marcella Nauer Weisend.
Bob was a retired employee of the Ormet Corp., Hannibal, Ohio; a member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church near Lewisville, Ohio; a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II. where he was a purple heart recipient; a member of the Caldwell V.F.W. ; a member of the American Legion Post 415, Summerfield, Ohio and a member of the D.A.V.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Rose Michel; a daughter, Bonita Sue Weisend; two sisters, Emma Shelton and Catherine Alvis; three brother, Charles, James and Ashton Weisend and a grandson, Nicholas R. Weisend.
Surviving are one daughter, Elizabeth Jean (Mark) Williams of Dresden, Ohio; three sons: Bruce (Lisa) Weisend of Caldwell, Ohio, Brent (Shelly) Weisend of Dresden, Ohio, Barry (Carol) Weisend of Heath, Ohio; four sisters: Mildred Carpenter of Delaware, Ohio, Elizabeth Ramsey of Zanesville, Ohio, Rose Blackburn of Houston, Texas, Mary Ritterbeck of Akron, Ohio; one brother, Norbert Weisend of Meridian, Idaho, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 S.R. 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2014 with vigil services at 7:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. David Gaydosik as the celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Lewisville, Ohio.
