ELLA A. SMITHBERGER
Ella Ann Smithberger, 94, Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Woods-field, formerly of Lewisville, died May 4, 2011 at the center. She was born May 21, 1916 near Lewisville, a daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Crock Zwick
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, where she was also a member of the Catholic Women?s Club and the St. Francis Society.
Surviving are a daughter, Nina (Daryl) Highman of Senecaville; three sons, James Smithberger and Jacob Smith-berger, both of Lewisville, Kiven (Melissa) Smithberger of Woodsfield; two sisters, Edna Bjorkman of Home-worth, Mary Kress of Alliance; a brother, Charles (Jo Ann) Zwick of Caldwell; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Smith-berger; a daughter, Donna Bolon; a brother, Carl Zwick; a sister, Gertrude Sorg; two daughters-in-law, Mary Smith-berger, Eiko Smithberger; and a great-granddaughter, Deanna Smithberger.
Friends were received May 9 at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield. Funeral liturgy with mass was celebrated May 10 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik officiating. Burial followed in St. Sylvester Cemetery, Woodsfield.
Vigil services were held May 9 at the funeral home.
