Joseph L. Perry, 77, of Tuscarawas Township, died Thursday evening in Massillon Community Hospital.
He was born Oct. 8, 1919 in Massillon, a son of the late Joseph and Ida (Veiock) Perry. He was a life long resident of the area and retired in 1977 as an employee of the city of Massillon. His citizens band radio handle was "Grinny".
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Virginia (Baus) Perry, whom he married on July 25, 1944; a daughter, Mrs. James (Joy) Swineford of Massillon; two sons, Timothy Perry and Gary Perry, both of Massillon; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he also was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Lantz and Audrey Lynch, and by two brothers, Dale Perry and William Perry.
The funeral is at 3 pm Sunday in Paquelet Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Grine officiating. Burial is in Brookfield Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7-9 pm today and one hour before the service Sunday in the funeral home.
