Magdalena Fitterer
Magdalena Fitterer, 85, Bismarck, died Dec. 18, 2007, at Medcenter One, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Church of the Ascension, Bismarck, with the Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Perry Funeral Home,Mandan, with a vigil/rosary service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to service at the church.
Magdalena was born Jan. 11, 1922, at Glen Ullin, to Adam and Beata (Meuchel) Fitterer. She was raised and educated in Glen Ullin, where she attended country schools. On July 13, 1943, she married Michael Fitterer in St. Joseph Catholic Church, rural Glen Ullin. She and her husband farmed all of their lives south of Glen Ullin, where they raised their five sons. Magdalena was active in Christian Mother's Society. She loved to cook, dance and play cards. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed her flowers. In 1981 they retired and moved to Bismarck.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, Bismarck; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Carol, Lewiston, Mont., Dennis and Sandra, Mandan, Kelvin and Susan, Bismarck, Howard, Las Vegas, and Jesse and Debbie, Phoenix; four sisters, Ronnie Martin and Ann Templeton, both of Portland, Ore., Betty Leingang, Bismarck, and Bertha Johnson, Salisbury, Md.; two brothers, Adolph, Fargo, and John, Portland; six grandchildren, Stacy Fitterer, Nikki Steele, Wade and Wes Fitterer, Tyler Fitterer and Tara Fitterer; and two great-grandchildren, Faron and Felica Steele.
Magdalena was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; her sister, Peggy; and five brothers, Tony, Ralph, Luke, Pete and Steve.
