NYJanuary 4, 1892, page 5John RITZENTHALER, one of the oldest and most respected German residents of Rochester, died Saturday at the residence of his son, Joseph RITZENTHALER, 335 Maple street. He was born in Baden, Germany, in 1808 and came to Rochester about fifty-eight years ago. Four children survive him, Joseph, Bernard, the city overseer of the poor, Mrs. Frederick SCHLAGEL (?), all of this city, and Mrs. John M. ILLIG of Pittsburg, Pa. The funeral will take place to-morrow morning at 8:30 o'clock from the house, and at 9 o'clock from the Holy Family Church. High mass will be celebrated.The funeral of Frederick RELYEA took place from his late home No. 599 North street at 2 o'clock. The bearers were John CAWTHRA, David PETTINGER, John DEVERAUX, William WHITNEY, George W. RANKER (?) and W. H. TERRY, all members of Mack's Battery. Members from the O'Rorke Post Drill Corps acted as the firing squad. All the Grand Army posts of the city were represented. Family Cemetery. His obituary appeared 4 Jan and stated he died Saturday
(which was January 2) and he was to be buried the next day (January 5).
Records state he was reinterred in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Sec. A-172-1N,
26 Oct 1915. (Holy Family Cemetery burials were moved). Additional
