Regina M. Koch Regina KochRegina M. Koch, nee Hemmer, 89, of O'Fallon, Ill., born May 23, 1917, in O'Fallon, Ill., died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at Covenant Care of O'Fallon, Ill. Regina grew up in Taylorville, Ill., and graduated from Taylorville Township High School in 1934. She was an excellent stenographer and worked for the State of Illinois Department of Public Works and Buildings, Division of Highways, (now IDOT); for the former State of Illinois Institute of Juvenile Research; as a secretary at Estelle Kampmeyer School in O'Fallon, Ill.; and for many years at the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services in East St. Louis, Ill., retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill., and a former member of the St. Clare Altar Sodality. Regina was a loving wife and mother, had a wonderful sense of humor, was proud of her family, and of being three-fourths Irish. She married William H. Koch in Springfield, Ill., on April 16, 1938. He died Sept. 5, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Edward R. and Mary Frances, nee O'Neill, Hemmer; two brothers, Robert J. (Dorothy) Schumacher and Thomas L. (Mike) Hemmer; brothers-in- law, Charles Kloustermeyer and Felton Koch; and sister-in- law, Mary Ann Klutho Hemmer. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara (Albert) Kimmle of O'Fallon, Ill.; her son, William J. (Jeanne, nee Booth) Koch of Fairview Heights, Ill.; one grandchild, Cynthia Kimmle of O'Fallon, Ill.; a brother, Gene (Melva) Hemmer of Sun City, Ariz.; sisters, Geraldine Kloustermeyer and Peggy Berens, both of O'Fallon, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Hemmer of Annandale, NJ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorials may be made to St. Clare Building Fund, or in the form of Masses and will be accepted at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, Ill.May the road rise up to meet you.
