Ruth L. Wegmann, 78, rescue squad volunteer

FANWOOD -- Ruth L. Wegmann, 78, died Tuesday (Aug. 23, 2005) at The Highlands in Edison. Born in Newark, she lived in Fanwood before moving to Edison in 2003.
A licensed practical nurse, she worked for Dr. Henry Sancier in Summit before retiring in 1992.
Mrs. Wegmann was a volunteer with the Fanwood Rescue Squad for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Fanwood; a former member of the Scotch Plains Fanwood Junior Woman's Club; and the Fanwood Senior Citizens.
She was predeceased by her husband, George J. Wegmann, who died in 1994.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Lazistan and her husband, Milan Lazistan Jr. of North Plainfield; and her grandson, Milan Lazistan III.
The funeral will begin 9 a.m. Saturday from Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Martine Avenue, Scotch Plains. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1571 Martine Ave., Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 or the Fanwood Rescue Squad, 218 Forest Road, Fanwood, NJ 07023.
