She was baptized on June 5, 1922 and confirmed on April 5, 1936. She was united in marriage to Edgar Vilhauer on November 9, 1941. Her baptism, confirmation and marriage were all celebrated at Hope Lutheran Church in Delmont. She and Edgar farmed in the Tripp area until moving to Tripp in 1984. They were blessed with six children, which they raised on the farm. After her marriage, Erna joined Frieden?s Reformed Church in Tripp and was a member of the Women?s Guild since 1956. Erna was a devoted farm wife and enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening. She died on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the Tripp Good Samaritan Center at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 6 days. Erna?s memory will be cherished by her five children: Esther (Anthony) Weber of Parkston, South Dakota, Carol (William) Smith of Mitchell, South Dakota, Joyce (Douglas) Harms of Harrisburg, South Dakota, Lillian (John) Larsen of McCook Lake, South Dakota and Glen (Darla) Vilhauer of Watertown, South Dakota; a daughter-in-law, Ann Vilhauer of Pasadena, California; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Clara Vilhauer of Salem, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar in 1993; a son, Donald, in 1999; two grandchildren; her parents, John and Katherine Albrecht; three brothers and one sister.
