Age Resident of Louisville Dies in HomeMarx Zwick Passes Away Funeral Wednesday Morning.Marx Zwick, 87, died at his home in Louisville Monday, from the infirmitties of advanced age.Born in Bruchweilwe, Bavaria, Germany, April 25, 1838, he came to the United States when he was 14 years old, making his home near Louisville, Monroe Co., OH.. In 1904 he moved to Louisville, Stark Co., living there until the time of his death.He married Miss Mary Ann Hohman when he was 24. Eleven children were born to this union, five of whom survive him. They are Miss Barbara Zwick of Cincinnati, Sebastian and George Zwick, Louisville, and Joseph Zwick and Mrs. Anna Smithberger, of Marr, Ohio.In 1889, three years after the death of his first wife, he married Mrs. Philamena Maloney who survives him, together with the following children of that marriage, L. P. Zwick, and A. S. Zwick, Canton; C.C. ZWICK, Louisville, and a step son, G. P. Marx Zwick, Aged 86 Dies Monday Morning
Marx Zwick died at his home in Louisville, Monday, January 26, from the infirmities of old age. He was born in Bruchweilwe, Bavaria, Germany, April 25, 1838, making his age 86 years and 10 months. At the age of fourteen years old, he came to this country with his parents, locating near Lewisville, Monroe County, Ohio. In 1904 he moved to Louisville, Stark County, where he lived to the time of his death.
At the age of twenty-four Mr. Zwick was married to Miss Mary Ann Hohman, who died in 1886. To this union eleven children were born of whom five are living. They are Miss Barbara Zwick of Cincinnati; Sebastian and George Zwick of Louisville, and Joseph Zwick and Mrs. Anna Smithberger, of Marr, Ohio.
In 1889 Mr. Zwick was married to Mrs. Philomena Maloney, who survives, with the
following children: L. P. Zwick, and A. S. Zwick, of Canton, and C.C. Zwick, of Louisville;
also one stepson, G. P. Maloney, of Canton, fifty-one grandchildren, thirty-two great
grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Barbara Kuhn, of Spokane, Washington, and a brother, John
Zwick, of Monroe County, Ohio.
Mr. Zwick followed the occupation of farming in his younger years. He was also a carpen-
ter but had not followed either occupation for many years. Mr. Zwick was a most genial, kind
old gentleman. He was always pleasant and enjoyed the companionship of his freinds, His death was very sudden and came as a great shock to his family and friends.
Funeral services were held at St. Louis Catholic church, on Wednesday morning, Rev. N. P.
Weckel officiating. Interment was made in St. Louis cemetery.
According to German Birth and Baptism records, Marcus Zwick was born in Bayern, Germany on April 24, 1838 to Michaelis Zwick and Catharinae Burkhard and Christened on April 25, 1838 in Roemisch-Katholische, Bundenthal, Pfalz, Bavaria [Roman Catholic, Budenthal, Pfalz, Bavaria].
According to his death certificate, 86 year old retired farmer Marcus Zwick died on January 26, 1925 in Louisville, Stark Co., Ohio. He was born on April 25, 1838 in Brucksweiler, Bavaria, Germany to Micheal Zwick and Catherine Burkhard. The cause of death is given as "Cerebral hemorrage" with a contributory factor given as "Arterio- sclerosis." He was buried on January 28, 1925 in St. Louis Catholic church Cemetery. The information on the death certificate was provided by Phiolmena Zwick, Louisville, Ohio [his second wife].
