Ruben Stoebner, 82April 3, 1923 - August 20, 2005Funeral services for Ruben B. Stoebner were held Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at 1:30 p.m., at Friedens Reformed United Church of Christ, Tripp, with the Rev. Greg Way officiating. Music was furnished by Lennis Mehlhaff, soloist, and Ruby Dewald, organist.Interment was made in the church cemetery with Goglin-Kelley Funeral Home, Tripp, in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Lerrin Stahnke, Lennis Stahnke, Justin Vitters, Jeffry Vitters, Ross Rehling, and Jim Stoebner.Ruben B. Stoebner was born on April 3, 1923, on the family farm near Avon to Andrew and Emelia (Vilhauer) Stoebner. He attended Dewald Country School through the eighth grade. He was united in marriage to Madelene Sedlacek on September 24, 1946, in Immanuel Reformed Church near Tripp. He lived and farmed on the family farm from his birth until November 1, 2004, when he retired and moved to Platte. He was active in his church, serving on the Consistory of the Immanuel Reformed Church.He died on Saturday, Aug. 20, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, Mitchell, at the age of 82 years.He is survived by his wife, Madelene Stoebner, Platte; four children, Janice (Charles) Stahnke, Platte, Judy (John) Vitters, Columbia, S.C., Jack (Ronda) Stoebner, Eagle River, Alaska, and Jill (Brad) Rehling, Rapid City; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ida Stoebner, Freeman.He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bertha Reiner and Marie Wollman; and two brothers, August Stoebner, and Ernest Stoebner.
