Dorothy Schweitzer (nee Wolf)
Of West Bend, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Kathy Hospice, at the age of 79.
Dorothy was born on April 29, 1927, the daughter of William Joseph and Rosella Mary (nee Lackas) Wolf in Allenton, where she was also raised. On June 20, 1951, she married Leo J. Schweitzer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Allenton. After marriage, the couple lived on their farm in Allenton, where they began a family of their own. Dorothy loved quilting, traveling, playing cards, and dancing; and during voting, she offered her time as a poll worker. She was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Allenton and also the Addison Hand Quilters Group.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Michael) Schmitt of Allenton, John (Maureen Wolford) Schweitzer of Allenton, Sue (Rick) Huston of Green Bay, Dianne (John) Retzlaff of Slinger, Julie Schweitzer of Germantown, Carol (Bob) Gonwa of Wayne, and Annette (Tim) Zautcke of Little Chute; her grandchildren, Matthew (Colleen) Schmitt, Chad (Jenny) Huston, Holly (Rich) Hawkins, Mark (Angie) Schmitt, Todd (special friend Liz Crone) Huston, Jeremy (Christine) Gonwa, Kyle Schweitzer, Becky Gonwa, Alyssa Retzlaff, Nathan Retzlaff, Andrew Zautcke, Brent Schweitzer, Natalie Retzlaff, Julia Zautcke, and Orion Gonwa; three great-grandchildren, Conor, Braeden, and Luke; her sister, Rosie Strean of Big Flats, Wisconsin; brother, William (Pat) Wolf of Pardeeville; and her sisters-in-law, Judy Wolf of West Bend, Doreen Wolf of Fredonia, Lucy (Bill) Wolf of Allenton, Dorothy Ritger of Allenton, Ruth Schweitzer of Allenton, and Mary Jane Sternat of Allenton. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other special relatives and many dear friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo; brothers, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial in honor of Dorothy will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church (215 Main Street, Allenton, WI 53002), with Father Richard J. Stoffel officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 17, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. ? 7:00 p.m. at Resurrection Church, and will be continued on Saturday, November 18, 2006 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Anthony Cemetery.
