Doris Ann Ruffing-Lobring
Orlando, Fla.Doris Ann Ruffing-Lobring, died in Orlando, Fla., of complications from pneumonia on April 11, 2005. Born in Cincinnati, sister to Sylvia Davis and Rev. James Brichetto. A devout Catholic, Doris raised her five children while being very active with St. Dominic Church, school and athletics. She survived her late husband, Oscar "Bud" Ruffing Jr. and then married Kirk Lobring in 1978. Doris was named the First Mate of the USS Panther and was the first woman recipient of the Elder High School Altiora Award. Doris and Kirk realized a life-long dream as they moved to Florida in 1983. Her zest for life was apparent, as, while working for Disney, she was a three- time recipient of the Spirit of Disney Award and a two-time recipient of the Disney's Partners in Excellence Award. She retired from Disney in 2003 and spent the last few years enjoying life with Kirk, her children and grandchildren. She was 70 years young and survived by her incredible husband and partner, Kirk Lobring, five children and their spouses, Kathy Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio, Oscar "Bud" III and Joni Ruffing, of California, Ky., Dr. Jim and Connie Ruffing of Greenville, S.C., Kurt and Tara Ruffing of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rick and Karen Ruffing of Cincinnati, Ohio; and 18 grandchildren. Doris loved life; she never met a stranger, and she now continues to spread the Disney magic. We will miss her dearly and cannot express the depth of our gratitude for all that she did for us. Friends may call today at the Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home, 4619 Delhi Road, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Dominic Church at 1 p.m.Published in The Greenville News: 04-16-2005
