- [S927] Obituary.
Debra Kirschmann, 48, Bismarck, died Feb. 20, 2003. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Duey Heid officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Debra was born June 21, 1954, in Bismarck, the daughter of Reinhold and Esther (Renz) Schauer. She and her family lived on a farm near Moffit. She attended Moffit Public School until the age of 11, when her family moved to Bismarck. She attended Bismarck Public Schools, and graduated from Bismarck Junior College. Debra married Weston Kirschmann on May 23, 1977. They were together over 30 years and were true soul mates, as much in love at the end as at the beginning of their lives together.
Debbie's capacity for love and kindness for animals was never ending. She was the "Mother Teresa" of the animal world. Between Debbie and her daughter, Katie, each and every stray animal that came to their door was welcomed and cared for. Her compassion was not limited to the animal kingdom; she showed the same concern for people who were less fortunate than she.
She loved flowers and took great pride in her yard and flowerbeds. She had a special touch with plants. She could make even the most difficult plant respond to her touch.
Debbie took great pride in her daughter's talents in music and art. She boasted that Katie was such a good student. These things made Debbie very proud.
Debbie will be greatly missed by all who survive her.
She is survived by her husband, Weston; her daughter, Katie; her parents, Reinhold and Esther Schauer; and two sisters, Irene (Don) Charbonneau, Dickinson, and Diane (Richard) Fransen, Mobridge, S.D.
The family requests memorials be sent to Katie Kirschmann, 1514 E. Thayer Ave., Bismarck, N.D. 58501.
