HARRISON, Larry L. Larry Harrison, resident of Sun City in Roseville passed away in his home on March 1, 2014 at the age of 74, following a short illness. Larrywas born in Parkersburg, Iowa on February 20, 1940 and first came to Sacramento in the late 1950?s while serving in the US Air Force. It was here that he met and married Betty Borth, formerly of Lodi. The couple had three daughters, Tammy, Tina, and Tonya. Following military service, Larry completed his education in the field of accounting and began working for the State of CA where he enjoyed a long and successful career that included various management assignments within the Dept. of Social Services and the CA Prison Industry Authority. Following his State retirement in 1997, Larry formed a solid waste management consulting business. Under contract with the Rockefeller Foundation, he traveled internationally to bring innovative recycling and composting programs tounderdeveloped countries. In later years, Larry enjoyed golf, poker, and traveling, particularly cruises with the family, the annual Harrison family reunions in Iowa, and frequent trips to the CA Central Coast to spend time with friends. A true Midwesterner at heart, Larry will always be remembered for his love of home and family, his fun-loving spirit, and a laugh that could fill a room. Larry leaves behind his loving wife of 8 years, Kathy Harrison; three daughters, Tammy (Steve) Pereira, Tina (Gary) Poole, and Tonya Harrison; five grandchildren, Dean and Sarah Pereira, Krista and Garret Poole and Drew Chichester; two brothers, Jerry Harrison of Sandpoint, Idaho and Terry Harrison of Omaha, NE. Larry was preceded in death by his first wife Betty in 1994 and his parents, Basil and Gayle Harrison. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life on March 29, 2014 at 2:00PM at Sierra Pines Golf Course, 7600 Whistlestop Way, Roseville, CA 95747. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
