Zweigle, 90, of Lodi, died May 10 of natural causes at a local convalescent hospital after a sjort illness. He was born Nov. 28, 1902, in Harvey, N.D., to Jacob and Justina Fischer Zweigle. Mr. Zweigle attended schools in Harvey and worked on the family farm. He came to Lodi in 1925 and married Maggie Bender in the Zion Reformed Church on Aug. 28, 1927. She died on Aug. 24, 1991. He worked for many years for the Henry Beckman family, in the vineyard and grain fields. He was also a welder and worked for the old Foster & Wood Cannery as a mechanic. He retired from Galt High School as head of maintenance in 1967. Mr. Zweigle was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 40 years, serving as a deacon. He was a member of the choir and the King's Messenger's. He was active in the California State Guard for two years during W.W.II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalena "Maggie" Zweigle; four brothers, Emmanuel, Julius, William and Jacob Zweigle; and two sisters, Louisa Filler Pfeiffer and Christina Schede. Mr. Zweigle is survived by three daughters; two brothers, Roy and Herbert Zweigle and a sister, Bertha Seibel; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
