He died on August 24, 2009, in his home, in Toronto, Ontario. Parents; and siblings, David Weiser and Doris Gilpin predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann Liggett Weiser; and his daughter, Sara of Nova Scotia. John held degrees from Drury College and the University of Missouri. In his early career, he taught and coached in Ava and Republic, Mo. After receiving a D.Ed., he taught at Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Mich. In 1967, he joined the faculty of Applied Psychology at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. As professor, he taught and served as chair of the department for several years. He and Ann also founded the Toronto Center of Psychosynthesis, training people in the helping professions. John retired in 1992, spending the winter months in Florida, where he renewed his love for golf. There will be a celebration of John's life in Toronto on October 16.
