Clement A. Hannel, 83, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Kevin Vogts of Concordia Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.Clement A. Hannel was born April 25, 1921, in Galva, Iowa, the son of Perry and Emily (Konrady) Hannel. He grew up in Ida Grove, Iowa and attended school in Ida Grove. He graduated from Ida Grove High School in May of 1942. He was in the National Guard from May of 1938 to September of 1940. He entered the U.S. Army in June of 1942. He served overseas for 18 months in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations in the Army Medical Corps and was discharged in January of 1946 with a rank of Tec 3.
He married Lucille S. Koth on April 4, 1948, in Galva. The couple lived all their married life in Sioux City. Clem worked for 9 1/2 years at Ginsberg's Furniture Store and from 1955 to 1983 at Johnson Biscuit Company (now Interbake Foods) He retired in May of 1983.He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and a former member of the American Legion. Clem was an avid fisherman.Survivors include his wife, Lucille, of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Richard and Carolyn Hannel of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Jean Pollack of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Teresa Ann Hannel; a brother, Lloyd Hannel; and a brother-in-law, Eldon Koth.Pallbearers will be Joe Hannel, John Koth, Zachary, Sarah and Sean Hannel and Al Ray Koth.
