Born to Rosina Feiock Van Inwagen and William Van Inwagen in Newark, New York on April 25, 1915. His brother Earl died in 1982. Herb Graduated from Newark High School in 1934. He served in the US Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945. He married Genevieve Ryan in 1940 and they had one son, Thomas Earl Van Inwagen born in 1945, who resides in Orangevale, CA. Herb came to California in 1964, transferring from Griffiss AFB in Rome, New York to McClellan AFB. He married Leah Miebach in 1967. In 1978 he retired From McClellan AFB. He leaves behind his son Tom, his grandsons Tommy and Donald and his wife Danette. Herb was a member of SIRS Branch 50, NARFE chap 1658, Macular Friends and the Rocklin Historical Society. Friends are invited to a memorial Service at EAST LAWN MORTUARY/SIERRA HILLS MEMORIAL PARK on 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, on Tuesday December 14th 2004 at 10 AM. The Family requests Memorial Donations to Loaves and Fishes in Lieu of flowers. Published in the Sacramento Bee on 12/11/2004.
