Mary E. "Betty" Behrendt, 77, of 2843 Grand Ave. and Las Vegas, Nev., died of cancer Friday at her home in Des Moines. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Central Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. The body will be cremated following the funeral. was born in St. Mrs. Behrendt Joseph, Mo., and had lived in Des Moines 48 years. She was a personnel and benefit administrator at Atlas Co. Survivors include two sons, Timothy of Las Vegas and H. Michael of Aspen, Colo.; two daughters, Joan Middleton and Mary Baker, both of Des Moines; two sisters, Julie Burke of Le Claire and Katie Campbell of Covina, Calif.; and nine grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Dunn's Funeral Home, where the family will be present. Memorial contributions may be made to her church's Christian Education Fund.
