Bio: TO THE MEMBERSHIP:Officer William F. Glasser, Metropolitan Police Department-11th Precinct, retired in July 1966, passed away on October 14, 2011. Officer Glasser's name will be added to the Memoriam pages.GLASSER, WILLIAM F. "BILL," 87, returned to his Heavenly Father peacefully surrounded by his family, Friday, October 14, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East.He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Frances (Sylves) Glasser, and brothers, John, Philip and George.He was a member of the Cathedral of the Assumption Catholic Church and was also a member and usher of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Inverness, Florida. Bill was a retired Washington D.C. Metropolitan police officer. Bill served in the U.S. Marines (6th Marine Division FMF 1st provincial 22nd Marine regiment) in the South Pacific during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary "Babe"; daughters, Carol Crockett (Roger) and Denise Colombaro (Louie); his brother, Ronald Glasser; grandchildren, Andrea Largen (Byron), Christopher Crockett (Diana), Jennifer Kline (Bill), Daniel Head (Christye), and Tim Head; great-grandchildren, Lilee Largen, Ella Largen, Benjamin Crockett, Lauren Crockett and Reese Kline; and many nieces and nephews."Pop" truly loved his family and was the very best grandfather and great grandfather. His five great-grandchildren also loved him dearly. All will miss him terribly.Funeral service will be Monday, 9:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Assumption Catholic Church 433 S. 5th St. Louisville. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Oldham County Funeral Home 706 W. Jefferson St. La Grange, KY.The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all staff at Baptist Hospital East for their care and compassion.Memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus of Louisville 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY, 40205
