Mrs. Lawlor Magdalen Lawlor DAVENPORT Services for Magdalen M. "Mag" Lawlor, 96, a resident of Davenport Good Samaritan Center, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic ' Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Halli-gan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Mrs. Lawlor died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Davenport Good Samaritan Center. Magdalen M. Stute was born Jan. 29, 1904, in Austin, Minn., to John and Ann (Landherr) Stute. She married Leonard L. Lawlor on Jan. 6, 1951, at Holy Family Church. He died March 5, 1970. Magdalen attended the former Iowa State Teachers College and graduated from University of Colorado, Greely. She had taught all of her life and retired in Davenport after teaching in the Davenport school system for many years. Her assignments in Davenport included Madison, Johnson and Wilson schools from which she retired. She enjoyed painting and poetry in her retirement. She was a member of the International Poet Society and had many of her poems published. In addition to the church, she was a member of Daughters of Isabelle and Retired Teachers Association. Memorials can be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include a nephew, Thomas Leahy, Marion, Iowa; stepdaughters, Ruth Debbout, Green Bay, Wis., Joan Troman, Bettendorf, Jean Lessman, and spouse, Wallace, Waterloo, Iowa, and Mary Ann Drexler, and spouse, Tom, Palm Harbor, Fla.; 15 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, three sisters also preceded her in death.
