Bio: Nicholas "Nick" Christian Stuckey, age 84, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 3:25 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Douglas Rehabilitation Center.The funeral service in his honor will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the Immaculate Conception Church with Reverend Dennis Kollross officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:00 ? 8:00 p.m., with a rosary service beginning at 8:00 p.m., at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938.Mr. Stuckey was born October 4, 1926, in Mattoon, IL, the son of Henry C. and Jessie (Lanus) Stuckey. He married Anna M. Emmerich on June 21, 1952, in Island Grove, IL. She passed away on January 3, 2010. Survivors include five sisters, Clara Winchester of Okeechobee, FL, Mrs. Matt (Helen) Mayhouse of Effingham, IL, Madonna Stuckey of Mattoon, IL, Ruth Ann Westjohn of Montrose, IL, and Betty Sehi of Lake Isabella, CA. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.Mr. Stuckey was a sheet metal construction worker and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union 218C in Champaign, IL, where he served as business agent for several years. He was involved with construction of the Sears Tower, Assembly Hall, Clinton Power Plant and other major construction projects throughout the Midwest. As a soldier with the United States Army, Nick served our country during World War II. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mattoon, a member of the Moose Lodge of Mattoon, IL, Knights of Columbus of Teutopolis, IL, and a former member of the Eagles Lodge of Mattoon, IL.He was a devoted and loving family man who treasured spending time with his family and a quiet drive in the countryside. He was also known as a practical joker and enjoyed woodworking and farming.
