Robert Siefken Robert O. Siefken, 80, of Prophetstown, left this Earth to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at St. Anthony's Hospital, Rockford, 111. A memorial celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Prophetstown. Inurnment will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Robert was born Feb. 24, 1927, in rural Morrison, the son of Clarence and Gladys Kahler Siefken. He graduated from Morrison High School. On March 17, 1978, he married Burdetta Paxton in Prophetstown. He worked as a representative for Standard Oil in the Prophetstown area for a number of years and later for the Whiteside County Highway Department in the motor fuel tax and the planning and engineering departments, retiring in 1992. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of the Prophetstown American Legion, a member of the NRA, a 32-degree Mason in the Prophetstown Masonic Lodge, a volunteer with the Prophetstown Fire District for many years, and also had served as a councilman for the city of Prophetstown. He enjoyed his friends, family, fishing, hunting, traveling and nature. Survivors include his wife; a sister, Emma Mae (Sandi) McComas, Los Osos, Calif.; a niece; nephew; and four grandnephews.
