She was a homemaker and had also worked as a rural mail carrier for over 30 years. She was a member of the VFW Post #6576 Ladies Auxiliary, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County and the St. Ann Altar Society at the church.Surviving are a daughter, Earlean (Chet) Bittner; and four sons, Eugene (Jane) Happe, Fred (Mary) Happe, Bob (Sharon) Happe and Art (Linda) Happe, all of Evansville; a son-in-law, Joe Wise of Manassas, Va.; 19 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Earl Happe in 1987; by a daughter, Theresia Wise; a sister, Elvira Gumbel; and two brothers, Leo and Clarence Weiss.There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, Rev. Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Church cemetery.Friends may visit with the family from 3 until 7 p.m. on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
