She was born Betty Jeanne Riedford on September 23, 1922 in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Lillian and Sebastian Riedford. Elisabeth went to the University of Arizona and Arizona State University, earning B.A. and M.A. degrees. She worked as a social worker until her retirement in 1988. Elisabeth was preceded in death by her daughter, Maribeth Cook, two sisters, Ann Vasquez and Mary Alice Fields, and brother James Riedford. She is survived by her sisters Kitty Gleason and Evelyn Miller; sons Jeff Cook and Fred Cook; daughters Ellen McClure, Cindy Byke, and Chrystina Cook; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends and family members may attend the visitation on Wednesday, August 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Funeral Home, 1562 E. Baseline Rd, Mesa, Arizona, 85204. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, August 23 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1730 W. Guadalupe Road, Mesa, Arizona, 85202. Reception to follow.
