Maxine Agnes Helmboldt Wing

Maxine Agnes Wing of Tustin died Friday, June 1, 2001 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was 79.
She was born Aug. 16, 1921 in Park Lake to Anthony and Ruth (Hatt) Helmboldt. She married Merle Ward Wing May 30, 1940 in Dighton at the Wesleyan parsonage.
Mrs. Wing was a pastors wife and a loving mother and homemaker. She and her husband entered the ministry in 1954. They pastored for 44 years at several different churches, including the Athens Indian Church in Athens, Kirkland Bible School of Decatur, Ind. and the LaSalle Gospel Tabernacle of Monroe. They spent 30 years there before retiring in 1998. Mrs. Wing assisted in their ministry and shared her gift of hospitality with many. Over the years, she welcomed into their home several elderly people as well as young people and children.
She loved watching and feeding the birds. She enjoyed gardening and tending roses. She also liked to play the piano and sing. She spent many hours in the kitchen baking. She especially enjoyed taking care of others.
Survivors include her husband, Merle of Tustin; children, Paul (Kay) Wing of Coldwater, Eloise (Russell) Kreml of Sault Ste. Marie, Danny (Marcella) Wing of Luther, Okla., Yvonne (Mike) Hatfield of Marion, and Dale (Debbie) Wing of Tustin; 24 grandchildren; 19 step grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Melody Ann; son, Donald Dean; and sisters, Madeline Kenyon, and Pauline Zeeryp.
Services are Tuesday at Pisgah Heights Wesleyan Church in Marion, Rev. Bob Zeeryp and Pastor Brian Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Marion.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Fosnaught Funeral Home in Marion.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Crippled Childrens Fund."
