On September 25, 2014 Gerard T. ?Jerry? Ryan, husband, father, WWII Veteran, passed from this life peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 9, 1924 in Jamaica, Queens, NY to William J. and Angelina M. (Dauer) Ryan. He grew up in Queens Village, NY and was a parishioner at Sts. Joachim and Anne parish. A graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, achieving the rank of Aviation Machinist?s Mate First Class. Following the war he attended the University of Dayton, graduating with the Class of 1950 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (BME), and was inducted into Tau Beta Pi. Returning to New York, Jerry was employed by the Brown Fintube Company where he became the Northeast Regional Sales Manager, in which capacity he worked until 1969. At that point he established the G.T. Ryan Corporation as a representative of domestic and international manufacturers serving the re? ning, chemical processing, and power generation industries. He also established Ryan Process Equipment Corp. as a manufacturer of specialized heat transfer equipment. Both companies continue to thrive under the direction of his son, Thomas. In 1952 Jerry married his sweetheart, Alice C. Klein. They made their home in Garden City, NY for 50 years, where they raised their three children. Jerry was always dedicated to his family, and always considered family time as his highest priority. In 2004 Jerry and Alice moved to Shadow Lake Village in Red Bank, NJ where they enjoyed their retirement years. Jerry and Alice have been blessed by eight wonderful grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Alice. He is also survived by his son, Thomas, and his wife Angela; grandchildren, Chloe, Ellis, and Eve of Brookside, NJ; his daughter, Virginia, her husband Timothy Krusko of Watertown, CT; grandsons, Justin, his wife Emily and daughter, Ellie of Wheaton, IL and Ryan of Chicago, IL, his daughter, Elizabeth, her husband, Gary Thompson; grandchildren, Alexander, Madeleine, and Ella of Washington, DC. He was predeceased by his brother, William. Funeral will be under the direction of John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank. Visiting hours are on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be at St. James Church, Red Bank on Monday, September 29 at 10:00am. Burial will be in Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY.
