Marie 'Micki' Butts CARBONDALE Marie "Micki" Butts, 77, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., formerly of Carbondale, passed away at 5:10 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002 in Trident Regional Medical Center in Charleston, S.C. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Rev. Kristen Butts Madison officiating. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Mound City National Cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Micki are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the Annual Service Project (ASP), co First United Methodist Church, 214 W. Main, Carbondale, IL 62901 and will accepted by the funeral home. Micki was born on April 19, 1925 in Robesonia, Pa., to Harold Charles Troelsch and Annie Malinda (Deeds) Troelsch. She married Gordon Keith Butts on Sept. 7, 1945 at Camp Atterbury, Ind. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1998. She is also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harold Charles Troelsch. Survivors include one son, Thomas Brooke Butts of Long Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Karen Lee DeMarco and her husband Frank, and Donna Lynn Kruse, all of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; six grandchildren, Thomas Brooke Butts, Jr., James M. DeMarco and his wife Nicole, Steven T. DeMarco and his wife Melissa, Christopher B. Butts and his son Nikolas, Jamie N. Spanner, and Caitlin B. Kruse; two greatgrandchildren, Gabrielle M. DeMarco and Alexis T. DeMarco; one brother, Bruce Troelsch of Reading, Pa.; and two sisters, Eleanor Schaich and Catherine Ganster, both of Reading, Pa. Micki was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale, where she was involved with Parrish Nursing, ASP, UMW and church office work. She also volunteered in various community projects such as Meals on Wheels, blood mobiles, and Hospice. Micki was a member of SIU Women's Association and was active in the SIU International Student Organization. She sponsored several foreign exchange students. She was also a member of the Jackson County Homemakers Extension and the American Legion of Carterville. Micki was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed by all. i -A
