Bio: Ellendale, ND-Funeral service for William ?Bill? Busch, 71, of Ellendale will be 10:00am, Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at New Life Assembly of God Church. Pastor Leon Freitag and Pastor Shawn Tayon will officiate.Burial will be in Assembly of God Cemetery at Kulm, ND.Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 5-7pm with a prayer service at 7pm at New Life Assembly of God Church.Bill died November 18, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.William David ?Bill? Busch was born December 3, 1943 in Grafton, ND to John and Dorrine Busch. He was raised on the family farm near Bowesmont, ND, and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1961. He attended Hub City Bible Institute in Aberdeen, SD and transferred to North Central Bible College, attaining a Bachelor?s degree in bible and pastoral studies. Bill proposed to Loretta, his college sweetheart, and they were married on October 23, 1964 in Golden Valley, ND. In 1965 Bill entered vocational ministry in South St. Paul, MN as an associate minister at South St. Paul Assembly of God.In 1966 Bill and Loretta loaded up their newborn son Kendall and moved to Ellendale to assume their first full time ministry position as the Pastor of Ellendale Assembly of God. He pulled his two wheeled trailer, a Busch family trademark, which contained one of Loretta?s very first vegetable gardens. Bill did not believe a car had value if it did not have a trailer hitch. One of his enjoyments in life was helping Loretta maintain the not so small piece of real estate known as her garden. He would till the garden several times during the year and many times in the winter would flood it with water to make an ice skating rink for his family. Bill also prided himself in being Loretta?s ?#1 taste tester? for many of her delicacies.Bill and Loretta Busch served with distinction for almost 50 years in pastoral ministry. In John 9:62 Jesus said, ?No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.? Bill and Loretta lived these words out as they poured their hearts into ministry across the state of North Dakota. Pastoring in the towns of Ellendale, Mott, Napoleon, Watford City, Rugby, Kulm, Bowman, and Lisbon, they literally impacted thousands of people?s lives for the Kingdom of God; doing so with integrity, love, and excellence. This commitment to service came out of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which, he entered into at Lakewood Park Bible camp as a child. Bill?s relationship with the Lord was evident to anyone who heard him pray. His prayer could best be described as humble, confident, and powerful, and the style of his prayer was genuine and unchanging whether he was alone or in public. It was not unusual to walk into the church during the day and find him praying at the altar over his family, his church, and his community.Over the course of their ministry, many accolades have been directed towards the team Bill and Loretta modeled. Countless people were introduced to the Lord, discipled in the Word of God, and developed into Christian leaders. However, no greater testimony to Bill and Loretta?s ministry legacy is the reflection of their faith which is now revealed in the lives of their three children, Kendall, Jonathan, David and their families. Bill and Loretta always encouraged their family to make faith as their starting point in life. He demonstrated this core value throughout his life. It is not a coincidence that is favorite passage of scripture was, ?You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.? Isaiah 6:23.Bill showed an amazing capacity for vision, design, and building. This he did with amazing creativity, whether he was working with construction, mechanics, or people. He was always building something; two churches, a parsonage, three church elevators, ample additions to various houses and churches, two wheeled trailers, minnow traps, tomato cages, Christmas light displays, a small engine repair business. Beyond his faith, one of the most powerful gifts he passed on to his boys was the gift of problem solving and ability to design and build across a variety of areas. It was not unusual for his sons to call and ask ?Dad? how to do that, he was always eager to talk through the options.Bill was proud of his grandchildren and always tried to have bikes and sleds ready for their arrival at his house. He was always quick to show off his friction car collection to them and was in attendance at many of their dedications. He also liked to travel. While he traveled there were two certainties. First he was always on the look for a good deal on a vehicle, even if he did not need one. He was asked one time to total all the vehicles he owned, he quit around the number seventy, and Loretta just smiled and shook her head. The second thing observed by Bill when he traveled was a trunk full of screw drivers, and a back scratcher, and a large mag flash light. Bill went few places without taking these last two items. Bill knew tools, and he knew how to use them. He was using his spiritual tools to minister to people even during the final days of life on this earth for him and Loretta. ?Well done. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith, now there is in store for you the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, will award to you on that day.?Bill is survived by his three sons: Kendall (Tracy) Busch of New Auburn, MN, Jonathan (Kathleen) Busch of White Lake, SD and David (Jennifer) Busch of Burwell, NE; 10 grandchildren, Seth, Hanna, Emily Joy, Ronnie, Tanner, Jacob, Caleb, Isaac, Jalise and Kelsey Grace; brother Don (LaDon) Busch of Sanger TX; nieces, Ronda Bailey (Chelcie) of Texas, Brenda Thornton of Texas, Cindy Parker of Texas and Tami Turrubiarte (Aaron) of Texas; nephews, Jeremy Busch (Natalie) of Ohio and Chris Busch (Laura) of Texas; and niece Tessa Busch of Texas; and numerous great nieces and nephews in Texas.Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Huber Busch; parents, John and Dorrine Busch; brother, Johnny; and granddaughter, Rebecca Jalise Busch.A memorial has been established which will provide bibles for various ministries in need.
