Bio: PETER HEY DIED FRIDAY EVENING NATIVE OF GERMANY, LONG RESIDENT OF COUNTY, WAS ILL SEVERAL MONTHS.FUNERAL SERVICE MONDAY Peter Hey, age eighty, a native of Germany, and for many years a resident of Shelby County, died Friday evening at six-fifteen o'clock at his home in Shelby township, four miles southwest of Shelbyville. His death was caused by senility and a complication of diseases. Mr. Hey had been ill since December 1, 1923. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hey, and was born September 23, 1843, in Millhofen, Germany. When he was eight years old his parents came to this county, and settled in Cincinnati. A short time later they moved to Shelby county. Mr. Hey had made his home in the county since that time. He had been a prosperous farmer, and acquired much land. He retired from active farming several years ago. He was married to Miss Minerva Maple in 1872. Mrs. Hey died in 1913. Mr. Hey was a member of the Evangelical church in this city. He was also a member of the local lodge of Red Men. Surviving Mr. Hey are seven sons, William, George and Thomas Hey, at home; Charles Hey, of Noble township; John Hey, of Jackson township; David and Daniel Hey Jr., of Shelby township; three daughters, Mrs. Delmon Clark, of Washington township; Mrs. Alvin Ray, of Shelby Township, and Mrs. Oscar Smith, of Fenns; one sister, Mrs. Katherine Burd, of Manilla, and three brothers, John and Daniel Hey, of Shelby Township, and George Hey, of Hancock county. Eleven grand-children also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock at the Evangelical church in this city, the Rev. Nestle officiating. Burial will be made in Forest Hill cemetery, with the Red Men participating in the services there. The cortege will leave the home at one o'clock, Monday. M. H. Sleeth and H. A. Hagerman are in charge of the funeral arrangements. (Obit: Shelbyville Republic, Apr. 5, 1924)
