Bio: Kenneth M. Winkler, 94, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, at his residence.He was born July 9, 1920, to Harry Winkler and Mary (Lux) Winkler in Shelbyville. He married Clara L. "Sis" (Beyer) Winkler on March 25, 1944, and she preceded him in death Dec. 22, 2013.Survivors include seven children: Rick Winkler and wife, Linda; Penny Bush and husband, Ray; Angie Jones and husband, Gene; Tony Winkler and wife, Cindy; Becky Haulk and husband, Randy; Peggy McCracken and husband, Steve; and Jackie Jones, all of Shelbyville; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Emerson, Norman and Maurice Winkler; and sisters, Dotty Anspaugh, Freda Tragresser and Rosie Lawrence.Mr. Winkler was a lifetime resident of the area. He attended Waldron High School.He served during World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps.Mr. Winkler was a farmer, auctioneer and school bus driver for Shelby Eastern Schools. He also owned and operated Kenny's Frostop Drive In from 1959 to 1975.He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Shelby County.Mr. Winkler was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 822, American Legion Post No. 70 and the Eagles Lodge.Kenny enjoyed golf, Indiana University basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball and Indianapolis Colts football.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176. The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, Shelbyville, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating.Burial will be at St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery in Shelby County. A graveside military service will be conducted by local veterans organizations.Memorial contributions may be given to the Cancer Association of Shelby County in care of the funeral home.
