Bio: Dorothy B. Willkomm, age 89 of Kenosha, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at United Hospital Systems Kenosha Campus surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 22, 1918 in Rib Lake, WI, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Francois (Schaudad) Schlosser. She attended schools in Rib Lake, coming to Kenosha in 1938. On August 31, 1940 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Paris she married Elmer M. Willkomm. Their family grew to five with the births of their three loving children, Joyce, Sandra and Thomas. Sadly, Elmer preceded her in death on June of 15, 1982. She worked for a brief period at American Motors Corp, and also with Luv Buds Florist on Sheridan for many years. Mostly, Dorothy was a proud and active homemaker. She and her husband and family worked on their family farm, and operated the Willkomm Egg Farm on Green Bay Road for numerous years, delivering eggs as a family throughout Kenosha and Lake Counties. Dorothy loved to sew, and even created most of her daughters clothing when they were children. A member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, her faith was strong, and she provided her children with a solid foundation of morals and ethics. Cooking and gardening were among her other talents; and the many trips to her summer home in Crivitz, WI made for many happy memories with her family. She also enjoyed gambling, especially in the Wisconsin Dells. In addition to all of this talent, baking was a gift that created not only incredible memories, but many smiling faces too! To enter the Willkomm home was to know that the smell of freshly baked chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies meant the delicious treats were only an arm-length away. And, you didnt have to wait long for one of her famous lemon meringue or chocolate cream pies. It all seemed so easy for her. She could satisfy her major sweet-tooth, and feed family and friends at the same time. Remembering Dorothy will be easy and everlasting particularly on birthdays. Her family will share joyful tears of her Birthday Celebrations when she would make her homemade strawberry shortcake. Fresh berries from the garden carefully adorned her melt-in-your-mouth angel food cake, something each and every member of the Willkomm family looked forward to. Left to cherish her memory and carry on her family traditions is her large and loving family: her three children, Joyce (Richard) Brodsko of Salem, Sandra (William) Padek of Somers, and Thomas E. (Toni) Willkomm of Kenosha; her seven grandchildren, Richard Brodsko Jr., David Brodsko, Jody Brodsko, Michael Brodsko, Steven (Wende) Padek, Dennis (Amanda) Padek, and Jessica Willkomm; and her four huggable great-grandchildren, Alec, Austin, Isaac and Mara. Along with her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by six brothers: Albert, Herbert, George, Raymond, Edward and Bernard Schlosser; and sisters Agnes Schroeder, Della Schlosser in infancy, and Emma Dober. Service:Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 4:00 at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. A private family entombment will be held in All Saints Mausoleum.Visitation:A visitation for Dorothy will be hosted on Thursday from 2:00 PM until the time of the services at the funeral home.
