Bio: Walter George Huber, 91, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord at 9:50 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Caroleton Manor Nursing Home where he had been a resident since December 31, 2005. He had been in failing health for the past six months.He was born April 26, 1914 in Alquina, IN, the son of Michael & Rose Schobin Huber.During World War II, he served with the United States Army Air Force and earned the rank of Corporal before his honorable discharge in 1945.On December 14, 1940, he was married in Greensburg, IN to Emma Fuchs of Dover, Indiana. Mrs. Huber survives.He had been employed at Ready's Tool & Die, retiring in 1967 and later was employed at the former Philco-Ford, retiring in 1976. He had worked as an auto mechanic at his own garage.He was a member of the Saint Gabriel Church. Walter, along with his wife Emma, helped many through difficultt times by opening their own home to both family and members of the community, As a result of his desire to help others, he inspired many lives and was instrumental in making Connersville a better place to live. In his leisure, he enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, making furniture and wood crafts. His talents included the ability to play several musical instruments. If you knew Walter, you appreciated his mastery of not only carpentry but of many trades.Survivors beside his wife, Emma Huber, include two children: James Huber and wife, Joanna and Sharon Quyle and husband, Bob, all of Connersville; seven grandchildren: Kimberly Brady and husband, Brian of Nashville, IN, Timothy "Butch" Huber and wife, Susan of Leopold, IN, Patty Frensemeier and husband, David of Nashville, IN, James Huber Jr. and wife, Sande of Connersville, Angie Lee and husband, Bret of Connersville, Jenny Cronenwett and husband, Jerry of Fishers, IN and Crystal Duncil and husband, Steve of Connersville; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Huber and wife, Loretta of Indianapolis and two half-brothers, Michael Huber, both of Indianapolis and Carl Huber of Acton, IN; two half-sisters, Anna Michaels of Indianapolis and Mary Ann Ramsey of Nashville, IN; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by a son: Walter Huber Jr., who died April 26, 1973; a daughter, Helen Rose Huber, who died October 10, 1960; a brother, Frank Huber, three half-sisters, Rose Marie Huber, Violet Huber and Helen Huber; and his parents.The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Stanley J. Herber at 10 AM on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Saint Gabriel Church. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Fayette County Veteran's Honor Guard. Friends and family may visit from 4-8 PM on Tuesday at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, where a Rosary Service will be held that evening at 7:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to the Saint Gabriel School Endowment Fund.
