OPAL STOEBENER
Funeral services for Opal Stoebener, 86, Baldwin City, were Saturday at the Worden United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Lewis officiating. Mrs. Stoebener died Thursday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 6, 1915, in rural Douglas County, the daughter of John Henry and Iva Myrtle (Vaughn) Elm. She was a lifelong resident of Douglas County and attended Range Line Rural School. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1935.
She married H. Arnold Stoebener April 11, 1939. They lived in the Worden area and moved to Baldwin City in 1984. He died Aug. 1,1998.
Mrs. Stoebener was a member of the Worden United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women. She was formerly the church treasurer and a member of Jolly Stitchers Club.
Survivors include one son, Robert Stoebener and his wife, Artis, Cameron, Mo.; one daughter, Jeanette Trybom and her husband, Emit, Lawrence; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant twin brothers, one brother, Harold Elm, and one sister, Florence Elm.
Burial was in Worden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Worden United Methodist Church Building Fund and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, PO Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
