Carl T. Steiner Carl Theodore Steiner, 65, of 105 Robin Court, Longview, died Oct. 12, 1993, in a local nursing home. He was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Glen Ullin, N.D., to Alois and Monica (Fitterer) Steiner, and c?me to Longview from Yakima in 1940. He attended Longview schools, graduating from R.A. Long High School in 1946. He attended Lower Columbia Junior College when classes were held in the basement of the Longview Public Library. He and Mary Aline Slater were married May 15, 1952, at St. Rose Catholic Church. Mr. Steiner was employed at the National Bank of Commerce in Longview (now Key Bank) from 1948 to 1953. He was hired as assistant treasurermanager of Weyerhaeuser Credit Union in 1953, and in 1965 he became permanent treasurermanager, holding that position until failing health forced his early retirement in 1983. He was the founder of Standard Dairy Credit Union (now Teamsters Federal Credit Credit Union. He was director of Pacific Central Credit Union, past president of the Cowlitz County Chapter of Credit Unions, a member of the Washington Credit Union Survivors Group, and a member of the original board of directors of Cowlitz Bank. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Hobbies included finishing wood furniture, photography, gardening, table tennis, croquet, camping, and television sports. Survivors include his wife, Mary, at home; a daughter, Sheila Steiner of Davis, Calif.; a son, Dave Steiner of Olympia; two sisters, Rosa McLellan of Seattle and Regina Cranston of Portland; an aunt; an uncle; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Health Hospice, 1035 11th Ave., Longview, Wash. 98632; or the Humane Society of Cowlitz County, P.O. Box 172, Longview. Columbia Funeral Service is in charge.
