He married Karen Meer October 26, 1991, at St Anthony's Church in Morris. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and driver at Brunni's in Greensburg for 15 years and spent the last three years with Bruns-Gutzwiller in Batesville.He had a love for working on engines, a talent he first demonstrated as a young boy disassembling toy cars and trucks. No matter where he went, Paul always preferred to do the driving, too. Most people knew him as "Frogger," a nickname he earned as a young man working at Ken's Auto. At Ken's, Paul started in car washing and his feet always seemed to be wet, earning him his nickname. In honor of that nickname, Paul and Karen named their home "Frog Hill." Paul's many interests included tractor shows, grilling, mushroom hunting, fishing, deer and squirrel hunting, and camping and spending time around a campfire. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family, too, and was passionate about passing on his love of the outdoors to his children.He is survived by wife Karen; daughters Claire, Jillian and Sylvia Eckstein; and son Matthew Eckstein, all of Oldenburg; mother Rose Eckstein; sister Beth Stone; and brother Steve Eckstein, all of Batesville. He is preceded in death by his father. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 25, at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m., Friday, August 26, at St Louis Church, with Reverend Carl Hawver, O.F.M., officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
