William W. "Bill" Gardner, Sr. SHREVEPORT, LA Mr. William W. "Bill" Gardner, Sr., 73, died on Thursday, March 26, 1998 after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Saturday, March 28 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Sunday, March 29 in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with full military rites. Officiating will be Rev. George Pearce of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Mr. Gardner was retired from the U. S. Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer, receiving the following military citations: Navy Commendation with Cluster, Combat Ribbons and Pacific Theater with nine stars. He was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. His wife, Rochelle Kelly Gardner, preceded Mr. Gardner in death. Survivors include one daughter, Drena Hutchinson of Slidell, LA; three sons, William W. Gardner, Jr. of Shreveport, Robert J. Gardner, Sr. of Lafayette, LA, Thomas B. Gardner of Saratoga Springs, NY; step-children, Ronna Gardner of Lafayette, LA, Kellie Hesseltine of Greenville, TX and Jay Sorrells of Merit, TX; grandchildren, Tony Brinkley, Daniel, Michele, Jeremy, Robert J., Jr. and Charles Ware, Bryan, Brigton, Bridget Gardner; Heather, Hillary and Andrew Hester, Kendal and Blake Hesseltine, Trey and Releigh Sorrells and Nichole Hutchinson; sister, Faye Nangle and husband, Ceril, India Stewart and husband, Enoch, Eunice Dowdy and husband, Nelson, Jeweldean Waters and husband, Lester; and brother, Winfrey P. Gardner and wife, Ruth. Pallbearers will be the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Osborn Funeral Home 865-8426
