Bio: "Merle B. Hunter, 87, died July 18, 1998. Born in Avonmore, Pa., he'd lived in the Akron area since 1944. He retired from Goodyear Aerospace in 1975 after 30 years service. He was a member of the Loyalty Lodge no. 645 F&AM, Craftsman Boat Club, and was on the Board of Directors for Park Lane Manor for many years. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. Preceded in death by wife of 56 years, May Josephine; parents W. R. and Jennie Mae; brothers, Leeland and Donald; sisters, Martha, Margaret, Avonelle, Lola, Winnifred, and Wanda. He is survived by daughter... grandsons... great-granddaughters... brothers, Aubrey "Pud" Hunter and William Dale Hunter; sisters, Iris Storassli and Geraldine "Jimmy" Hunter; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m. at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Rt. 619). Funeral service Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with interment at East Liberty Cemetery.
