At the age of one year, she moved with her family to a farm near Vayland, SD. On February 17, 1967, Verbena was united in marriage to Harold Kaufman. They resided on a farm near Yale, SD, before retiring to Huron in 1982. She is survived by her husband, Harold of Huron; 2 sons, Rodney (Carol) Woodruff of Belle Fouche, SD, and Charles (Lori) Woodruff of Broadland, SD; 1 daughter, Janice (Pat) Conrade of Moorhead, MN; 7 grandchildren, Toni Jo (Lance) Woodruff-Campbell, Daymon Woodruff, Sarah Woodruff, Bryan Woodruff, Tena Conrade, Jacob Conrade, and Chase Newland; 2 great grandchildren, Madeline Campbell, and Alec Conrade; 1 brother Malvin Bitterman of Huron; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husbandm Norman Wooruff; and infant daughter; and a sister-in-law, Doris Bitterman. Verbena died Saturday morning at her home at the age of 76.
