Bio: Schilling, Steven LeonardSteven Leonard Schilling died on March 12, 2014 of glioblastoma at his home in Grasonville, MD. He was 61. Born in Buffalo, NY, the son of Mr. Richard Schilling and Mrs. Virginia Gies Schilling, he grew up in Elmira, NY.Mr. Schilling graduated Notre Dame High School and entered the Air Force on April 15, 1971 where he served as a Russian linguist. After he was discharged he moved to Maryland to pursue a career in the electrical field becoming a master electrician and most recently working for Power Solutions in Bowie, MD. He taught in the electrical apprenticeship program for 14 years and influenced countless electricians in MD. In 1990, Mr. Schilling moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He truly loved life to its fullest. He enjoyed playing golf, movies, photography, and music. He was a member of the KIUMC. Mr. Schilling is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) Schilling; mother, Virginia Schilling of Elmira, NY; daughter, Leslie A. Schilling of Arnold, MD; stepsons, David O. Colburn III of Centreville, MD, Eric W. Colburn of Fort Mill, SC; siblings, Richard L. Schilling, Jr. of Oswego, NY, Mary J. Strong of Elmira, NY, Mark R. Schilling of Stevensville, MD, Sara J. Aspenwall of Elmira, NY, Kurt M. Schilling of Rochester, NY, Matthew J. Schilling of Elmira, NY, Julia M. Morien of Boyton Beach, FL, Margaret A. Porcaro of Del Ray Beach, FL, Kelley M. Schuld of Elmira, NY, Brett A. Schilling of Broad Run, VA; and 4 grandchildren, David O. Colburn IV, William A. Colburn, Tayler M. Colburn and Ryleigh G. Colburn. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Leo Schilling. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Kent Island United Methodist Church, 2739 Cox Neck Rd, Chester, MD. Services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Kent Island United Methodist Church in Chester.Published in Star-Gazette on Mar. 14, 2014
