She was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Samuel and Josephine Young. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a long time resident of Fort Walton Beach moving there in 1943 when she married the love of her life, Dorman. Mary was Methodist by faith and a member of First United Methodist Church where she was very active in her younger years teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dorman Edward Lowery; her mother-in-law, Sarah Lowery, whom she loved as a mother; son, John Edward Lowery; her two son-in-laws, Doug McLendon and Mark Connor; a great-grandson, Gary McLendon; her three sisters, Thelma Cleveland, Mildred Briles and Ruthie Spinks; and her dear friend, Ann Mitchell.Mary is survived by her three daughters, Sue McManaway, husband, Mack, of Louisville, Ky., Sarah McLendon of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and Donna Connor of Pensacola, Fla.; her grandchildren, Cherie Hensel, Doug McManaway, David McLendon, Steven McLendon, Thomas McLendon and Jessica Fell.
