Mary Opal Starr, 90, of Woodsfield, died Wednesday (June 6, 2001) at Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.She was born Oct. 6, 1910, in Monroe County, daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Clara Mary (Paulus) Starr.Miss Starr retired from Farmers Home Administration, Department of Agriculture.She was a member of United Methodist Church of Woodsfield, O. E. S. Chapter 268, Woodsfield, and the Pythian Sisters.She was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Vernon Starr; a sister, Edith Dixon; and an infant sister, Helen Lenora Starr.She leaves two brothers, Ralph E. Starr of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Clarence A. (Tiny) Starr of Norton; a sister, Lucy E. Mallett of New Carlisle; three sisters-in-law, Doris Starr of Wadsworth, Helen Starr of Woodsfield, and Fern Starr of Norton; a brother-in-law, Franklin Mallett of New Carlisle; several nieces and nephews.Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, where services will be 1 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Lynda Masters officiating.Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.Memorial contributions may be made to Woodsfield United Methodist Church, 136 N. Main St., Woodsfield, OH 43793.
